Many of my sculptures throughout my site are available for purchase. If interested, please email and ask about availability and pricing. My passion also lies in the form of custom commissions. I love planning, designing, and creating unique pieces which will fit a specific place in your home. I enjoy co-planning concepts with people and helping them make their ideas come to life. I am able to recreate most of the sculptures you see on my site, and can recreate them in different sizes, woods, or styles. Pieces will never be recreated exactly the same, but concepts can be redone and customized.
When planning commissions, every piece is developed differently, but I will often send sketches of the design for approval and possible alterations. The wood, whether purchased or found, is approved as well to ensure satisfaction. Depending on the design, a 3D design may be roughed out in clay to provide a clear visual. Once the piece begins to take shape, I periodically send pictures to illustrate progress and to ensure the product is satisfactory. When pieces are complete, if the buyer is interested, I send pictures of the various steps to show how the sculpture took shape.
Commissions require a deposit, and the signature of a contract. Prices depend on many factors, such as the amount of detail, the type of wood, and obviously, the amount of hours it will take to create. I can design and build to suit any budget. People at times will provide a price point and idea, and then I will design; or, I can design and provide a price after.
Depending on the piece, finding the right wood can be tricky and may take extra time. This depends on whether the wood will need to be purchased, or ‘found.’ Although I do have many interesting and unique branches and trunks at home, I do hike and search quite a bit to find the perfect match if needed. This may add to the time of creation, depending on season, or the design in question.
